They never mentioned how much they made, its all about how much they spent, How about adding how much they made in two days on parking and Parking violations. and the benefactors are the shops, restaurants, and stores. extort them instead of the bottom of the pyramid…
Most of us have blue collar jobs so we could live this lifestyle. think about that… If the other Police department wants in on the cheese they should do an event their town. we don’t need that much Uniforms…
besides this is a good opportunity for the candidate police officers to do field training… Imagine How many of them would be there… and that does not cost anything… For two days in a year… 2 days… This event is not about The City of Manhattan Beach, Or Southbay… This is about the people in it who makes this place what it is.
We are too poor to be extorted… its like squeezing sand and hoping for water…
Oh well… “Is Unacceptable!”

The city of Manhattan Beach should charge $5/person attendance. It would cut down on the number of individuals there just to get drunk and party. If they only had 16,600 of the estimated 60,000 participants pay, they would break even on the event with the current team fee structure.

But they are going to say “its gonna cost more to put up fences…” Its hard when its that big of a space and plenty of spots to sneak in to. the solution is “not Adding more PD’s from city’s 30-40 miles away from southbay”. Use Police trainees instead… because this is the issue that they are pushing.

umm hey jaren….as an owner of a local mb sandwich shop, i’m here to tell you we earn every extra penny we make on 6-man weekend! you try working on one of the hottest days of the year, with a line around the block (with mostly drunk people) that doesn’t let up all day while you’re standing, sweating, making food as fast as you can, while slipping on all the food on the floor, scrambling to the grocery store cuz you’ve run out of food….all in an old “beachy” building that has no air-conditioning!! i’m with ed…..charge everyone $5.

BUT YOUR MAKING BANK$ I used to work for the pizza place, Im in front of the oven the whole time and that was me every night of the summer till 4am. and I made bank. I didnt mind… i apologize if I rub you the wrong way. maybe thats not the solution either. people say we should charge $5 per head, but that means they have to put up fences and hire more security to watch people sneaking into the event. that would cost even way more. I think the solution is to not change the Uniform line-up last year. nothing happened last year… it was just typical 6-man.
I hope we find a common ground to this problem.

Jaren, page 7 covers the income.
Ed, many rules, including Coastal Commission approval, etc. disallow charging for access to the beach. It’s complicated. Look into the annual recurring fight over AVP tournaments if you would like to see more.
Question I do have; who made the 60,000 person attendance estimate and on what basis?
